What we need to quote
Roughly how tall, what is underneath it, how wide your gate is, and whether the tree is alive. A photo covers most of it. Gate width matters more than people expect: if a bucket truck cannot reach, the job becomes a climb and the price moves.
Tree on a power line?
Call Duke Energy first, not us, and never approach a tree in contact with a line. Know which wire you are looking at, because it is the opposite of what most people assume: Duke Energy states that keeping the service line from the pole to your meter clear of vegetation is the property owner's responsibility, while the lines running pole to pole are Duke's. Duke will de-energize your service line at no cost on request before tree work starts, which is the call to make before anyone climbs.
Near the Neuse or a creek?
Worth checking the buffer rules before any work. State Neuse basin rules restrict vegetation removal near watercourses, including small drainageways, and a violation can require restoration planting costing more than the removal.
